2.            Explain how these artists have responded to their WORLD.

3.            How does their practice vary to the Photojournalist Photographic Essays of Lauren Greenfield and James Nachtwey?

Q1. Tracey Moffatt and Cindy Sherman are both very successful photographers in the world. They both focus on the art and history of photography that represent current issues in the world today.

Cindy Sherman: Cindy Sherman is an acclaimed American Contemporary photographer who was also popular in the 80s, she is known for black and white photos of women. These images portray social problems in the world at the time. Her photos are historical and theatrical and long lasting in society, with the photos mainly focusing on women as they are the main focus. Staring right into the viewers eyes. This makes for an important emotional impact on one's viewing of the photography and it makes you want to look at the photo more so you can see better what the issue is in which is being shown, as it may take some time to pop up straight away. The critics believe her photos are very important as they display issues that are still relevant in today's society especially that about feminism. Tracey Moffatt photos also achieve this.

Tracey Moffatt: She was the most successful Australian photographer ever and was very big in the 80s and has had over 100 exhibitions. Her Photos tell a story but you must depict the story from these photos, as there is no written words or anything. So in these photos there must be emotion and storytelling in that moment, in order for her ideas to get across. Art critics see her work as topical and important as it shows current issues in the world by capturing a moment, a moment that has 1000 words in one photo. Her main themes in her photos are: Indigenous Australian identity, constructions of narrative, fame and identity.  All of her photographs are staged, in order to tell the story.

Q2. Tracey Moffatt and Cindy Sherman respond to their world due to their photos being important and topical as they both focus on women and feminism. This is so they can connect to their audience and speak up using the photos, however, they are still able to do this without sacrificing any visual beauty Therefore \both very successful in how they can portray their images.

Q3.Lauren Greenfield and James Nachtwey photos were used more for newspapers and the photos did not tell a story as much but helped show what happened with the newspaper article. They have both published with the National Geographic, their photos differed from that of Tracey Moffat and Cindy Sherman.
